RuPay the Indian Payment Gateway and India’s answer to VISA,MasterCard, Amex, etc was formally launched by the President of India a couple of days back .

I feel this India Gateway , which is the need of the hour , has not really taken off as expected and we still do not see nationalised and private banks offering RuPay cards , even though these card may cost them less to maintain and retain .

Anyway , watch out for Rupay cards and if you are somebody , who does not travel outside India often , then would recommend that you switch to a RuPay Card (Both Debit and Credit ) as it would be definitely cost effective in the long run
