You will NOT be considered a Direct Investor
1.If you used a Broker/Agent for investing
2.If you are using your trading account like ICICIDirect,Sharekhan, etc for your Mutual Fund investing as then these online sites will be your agents/brokers
3. If you use the Mutual Fund’s Website , but the Folio Number that you use was created by a Broker for you before you started using the website as then the broker will continue to be linked to that Folio number
4. If you invest in say HDFC Mutual funds and are doing that taking help of guys from HDFC Bank .. remember, these two are different companies owned by the same group and here HDFC Bank is an agent of HDFC Mutual Fund so you still use an agent ..so be cautious of other such common group companies
How to convert your Agent/Broker linked Folio to a Direct Folio :
Well you just have to give a letter to your Mutual Fund , mentioning your Folio Numbers and telling them that you no longer use the services of the agent/broker and hence would like to convert your Folio’s to DIRECT mode .
